Welcome to 5shen acupuncture & herbal therapy! 5shen is about patient-led, accessible, holistic community health care. We offer community, outreach and private acupuncture services in the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley. Herbal remedies are available through any 5shen clinic location, as well as through the online store.
Acupuncture is a safe, effective therapy in the treatment of a wide range of health concerns. It can be used alone or easily added to any pre-existing programming or health care regimen. Anyone may receive treatment regardless of their present state of health.

Community acupuncture means multiple people receive acupuncture at the same time, and pay on a sliding scale basis. By offering group sessions, patients are supported in an accessible environment with their peers. Treatments take place in a relaxed setting while the patient is fully clothed. Because more people can be seen in the same amount of time as a private session, we can charge less. People of various income levels can access services, and increased affordability also allows for more frequent visits, resulting in improved cost-effectiveness and better, longer-lasting therapeutic results.
Sliding scale rates are $20 – $40 per session, with a one-time intake fee of $10 on your first visit.
You decide what you can pay. No proof of income required.
Private treatments are offered at standard market rates in Oliver and Osoyoos at South Okanagan Physiotherapy and Active Wellness Center. Private sessions may be suitable for people who prefer privacy or who cannot travel to the community clinic, and for individuals interested in having their health care investment benefit the greater community. MSP low income rates available.
5shen provided services for many years as a mobile outreach health service in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side and at several locations around the Lower Mainland. We travel to service provider locations where clients, and even program staff and volunteers, can participate together in group acupuncture sessions, at no cost to people in need. Acupuncture is subsidized through MSP or private contributions. For group members, sharing healing space within a group of peers can be a valuable way to receive treatment. Offering a mobile service offers the added crucial benefit of reaching people where they are at.
Acupuncture outreach is currently being offered at Desert Sun in Oliver BC. Please contact me if you are a community group or organization and would like in-house, subsidized acupuncture services for your members.
